Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948)
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar, a coastal town in present-day Gujarat, India, on 2 October 1869.
Mahatma Gandhi was a major political and spiritual leader of India and the Indian independence movement. He was the pioneer of Satyagraha, a philosophy that is largely concerned with truth and 'resistance to evil through active, non-violent resistance'. He led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.
Gandhi played a major role in India's struggle for independence from British rule. He used non-cooperation and peaceful resistance as his "weapons" to resist British rule.
